Our history
Fatma and David met in 2006 in a research lab at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. For two decades, they pioneered sustainable biotechnology. In 2021, they co-founded Naturia Technologies Inc. to revolutionize the applications of plant-based proteins through nature-inspired innovations.
With nature as their inspiration, they develop advanced technologies that allows to unlock the full expression of nature by using natural enzymes to transform plant-based biomasses and to restores ecosystems.
Our history is not just about the products we are creating but about the movement towards a more sustainable, nature-inspired food system.
Board of directors
Fatma Meddeb, Ph.D. | Co-founder & President | CEO
Fatma earned her PhD in genetics from Faculté des sciences de Tunis/Institut Pasteur. In 2004, she moved to Canada, where she completed an industrial postdoctoral fellowship in enzymology at Agro Terra Biotech Inc. and Buckman Laboratories Canada in collaboration with Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR).
A recognized expert in protein science and industrial enzymology, Fatma spent years at UQTR in roles that bridged academia and industry, translating fundamental research into practical, sustainable applications.
Today, as CEO and co-founder of Naturia Technologies Inc., she channels her deep scientific expertise and lifelong commitment to nature-inspired solutions into revolutionizing the food and beverage industry—developing advanced plant-based proteins that nourish people while restoring and respecting the planet.
David Charbonneau, Ph.D. | Co-founder & Vice president | CTO
David holds a PhD in biophysics and cell biology from UQTR. He completed postdoctoral fellowships in chemistry/enzymology at University of Montreal and worked in the biotech and medtech industry. David specialized in enzymology and bioinformatics where he developed deep expertise in predictive peptidomics and precision enzymatic hydrolysis.
In 2021, he founded Naturia Technologies, a Québec-based company that delivers computational solutions for precision hydrolysis in food & beverages, nutraceuticals and cosmeceuticals.
When not decoding enzymes, David recharges in nature or by playing music or tennis.
Manel Ghribi, Ph.D., MBA | Adviser
Manel holds a Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology and a postdoctoral fellowship in industrial microbiology from Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. Manel also holds a MBA from Université du Québec à Montréal and as occupied multiple management roles in biotechnology companies and government agencies.
